Touching Colors

Location: American Zionist House

Dates: 24/10/2022 - 16/11/2022

"Imagine for a moment that you are standing in front of the impressive palette of colors and think what emotion you would like to transfer to the white canvas, and through it to the outside world. What is the message of your work?
Let's say and you want to make the viewer feel calm and peaceful, what colors come to your mind? And what about love? joy? anger? Pain?

The color palette is full of emotions and feelings and each color carries with it a different message - a universal message that crosses cultures, eras and languages. A piece in black and white will convey a different feeling than an identical but colored piece. A work in shades of red will evoke a different emotion in us than the same work in shades of blue.

Many studies have proven that the connection between color and emotion is close and powerful and affects our decision-making and the mood we are in. The psychology of colors occupies a significant place in our lives and helps creators in a wide variety of fields - to convey the feelings that accompanied them when creating.

The exhibition illustrates the automatic connection we make and make between colors and emotions and demonstrates how the choice of colors in a work is essential to the message the artist wishes to convey."

Written by Moran Yacovi, the curator of the exhibition.
